Brenda Carol has been professionally singing for over sixteen years.
Brenda Carol was born in Sudbury and was raised in Brantford Ontario. As a graduate of York
University, Brenda has studied, performed and recorded with such Canadian Jazz talents as
Steve Wallace, Lorne Lofsky, Stephen Crowe, Bill McBirnie and Stephen Gardner. Carol is a
founding member and lead vocalist of the Toronto-based group, ClaireVoyance, who have
established their presence as an “institution” performing at the TD Canada Trust Jazz
Festival for 13 years now. In 1998, Brenda Carol released her debut self-titled CD to critical
acclaim. Most recently, she has released “Brenda Carol and ClaireVoyance - Live At
HotHouse Cafe”, garnering “CD of the Week” at Jazz Review.com in the US.
As vocal educator and jazz clinician since 1994, Carol has worked with groups at the TD
Canada Trust Downtown Jazz Festival, DuMaurier Downtown Jazz Festival, the Toronto
District School Board, label represented artists and independent singer/songwriters. She is
currently a private Vocal instructor in Toronto, ON Canada.
Brenda Carol is active in the Toronto music scene, playing at local jazz clubs, restaurants,
performing studio session work, as well as, radio and television appearances. Carol is on
regular rotation at JAZZ.FM91, CBC and CIUT 89.5FM. Brenda Carol also hosts her own self-
titled jazz festival called: the “Brenda Carol Renaissance Jazz Fair”. This highly successful, 4
year running festival showcases young, up-and-coming jazz artists in Toronto.
